Providers are encouraged to complete the physical examination the next time the member is seen in person. Fee for service providers who perform a physical examination within 4 months of the telemedicine well-child check-up should void the previously paid claim with the Place of Service 02 and resubmit for payment of the well-child check-up using the date of service of the physical examination. Pediatric providers are invited to participate in CCHAPs online training modules on Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD).

Screening caregivers for depression in the pediatric setting has become the standard of care but creates unique challenges as the person being screened is not your patient. CCHAPs training modules address some of these unique challenges and provide legally vetted resources to solve them. Have you considered the following issues?
    • Does your current consent form include consent to screen a caregiver?
    • Do you know the best practices around documenting, storing, and releasing records?
    • Do you have a comprehensive policy and procedures document that covers all aspects of screening?
    • Do you feel comfortable managing a concerning result including a mother in crisis?
Our training modules are appropriate for practices that are already screening or just beginning. Pediatricians interested in doing an additional quality improvement project on PMAD screening may also earn MOC Part 4 credit and receive CCHAP technical assistance.
